Los Angeles is big, brash and perfect for anyone connected with the film industry. It is apparent from the offset that money talks here and, for those who have money, the World is your oyster. Sports cars roam the streets, TV and film studios are everywhere and everything about it is oversized. Hollywood is the epitome of all of this, with Mann's Chinese theatre and the newer Dolby theatre that creates the glamour factor one would expect of the home of the Oscars.

It was fun to stroll along the Walk of Fame and search for names with Thomas, who clearly was excited about seeing his idols.

Sadly, little of the 1940s glamour remains and tourists crawl upon the place like locusts. It does however, provide a good vista point for the "Hollywood" sign and some great photo ops.

We had a little drive into Beverley Hills and Mulholland Drive to ogle at the massive houses and get a good view across studio city. We also stopped at a permanent farmers' market and shopping centre to have lunch and kill some time before heading to the airport for our evening flight. It was pretty surreal to us to be sat outside on a picnic rug there next to a Christmas tree watching people go about their Christmas shopping. It really doesn't feel like that pre-Christmas time to us but it is fun to see the difference.
The U.S. has been great to visit because of the people we have visited here but we are looking forward now to moving on across the Pacific. Cook Islands is the next stop via our first overnight flight with travel bug junior!
